METABESITY CONFERENCES

METABESITY 2022

The Targeting Metabesity 2022 Conference, like those in 2021 and 2020, was held online. Speakers addressed topics such as obtaining scientific and clinical evidence for the development of healthspan products, the concept of aging as a disease (i.e. metabesity), and the applications of digital health and AI to geroscience.

METABESITY 2021

The Targeting Metabesity 2021 conference was the second in the series to be held online. Discussions focused on subjects including US and international regulatory pathways for the approval of healthspan products, the role of nutrition in longevity, and mitochondrial interventions to increase healthspan.

METABESITY 2020

The Targeting Metabesity 2020 Conference was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Speakers covered a spectrum of age-related diseases, including diabetes, cancer, and dementia, and evaluated the effects of factors like exercise, coronavirus, and biomedical regulations on healthy longevity. The Emerging Company Showcase was introduced as a segment and featured two dozen presentations.

METABESITY 2019

The Targeting Metabesity 2019 Conference was held in Washington, DC, with a speaker roster including Richard Hodes, Director of the National Institute on Aging; Gary Gibbons, Director of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute; Janet Woodcock, Director of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research at FDA; and Susan Mayne, Director of the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition at FDA. This conference brought together leaders in geroscience, diabetes, cancer, nutrition, exercise, loneliness, and venture capital.

METABESITY 2017

Together with Professor Lawrence Steinman, former head of the immunology department at Stanford and co-discoverer of the M.S. drug Tysabri, Dr. Alexander Fleming organized the inaugural Targeting Metabesity Conference in London in 2017.  This conference brought together speakers including Oxford professors from the boards of Roche and the Novo Nordisk Foundation, the Chair of the Nobel Assembly that selects the Nobel Prize for Medicine or Physiology, the Deputy Chief Executive of UK NICE, the CEO of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, and the CMO of the CMS.
